Both getting, and giving!
Have you ever received a massage?
There’s nothing quite like a treatment from a practitioner who is fully present, trained to manipulate soft tissues with ease.
Pressure — light, medium, deep.
Tempo — slow, medium, quick.
Direction — with the muscle grain, and against.
All the “happy hormones” are stimulated, Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphins (DOSE) leaving the feeling of bliss, comfort, love and light!
Quite often I hear from my clients “oh I didn’t know it was sore there, until you touched it!”
In this way, massage can serve as a form of personal development, an exercise in self awareness.
Occasionally, with the somatic connection, flashbacks of old memories or traumas may arise.
I enjoy facilitating with empowering questions, holding space for people to tune into their body pains, looking for a character, colour, texture, and/or stories associated in their tissues.
This is where a more holistic practice has developed into my specialty, sharing and acknowledging our “negative” thoughts and feelings with empathy and non-judgement so we can “feel it to heal it.”
Isn’t it intriguing in the English language, that “feeling” encompasses both physical and emotional energies?
